As per my previous thread I am looking to get a medium college YSL and I do .Just got a ysl bag with silver hardware and the silver sparkles in a way I’ve never seen in . As per my previous thread I am looking to get a medium college YSL and I do love the gold hardware on it. However based on previous quality issues thread I am very concerned about the wear and tear of the gold hardware. Just got a ysl bag with silver hardware and the silver sparkles in a way I’ve never seen in regular purses. But I do agree the black is very edgy.
As for silver or gold hardware, I usually like black with gold for evening outings, and black with silver hardware for day time use. I have a Kate with gold hardware and I usually use it for dressier occasions or evening outings. If I had to choose a different hardware, I'd go for antique silver. It's stunning on YSL bags. I'm not sure about the difference quality wise, I have YSL bags in both the black and antique silver and both have held up perfectly. I'd imagine the gold and silver are also excellent quality. Off the top of my head I know Loewe, Moynat, Delvaux, Moreau, and YSL have some beautiful and signature silver hardware but they also do gold on some pieces. Side note: I’m a sucker for black hardware done well, not just coated metal, and I’m specifically thinking of Moynat’s new black hardware. Has YSL ever come out with the black mix matelasse with aged gold hardware? Aged silver/gunmetal? All the pictures online seem to only be shiny gold/silver. I tried the black ones on at my local Neiman Marcus and all the mix matelasse bags had shiny hardware. Does anyone have both the small and the medium size envelope bags?
