My 16570 original came with hollow end links. When I took it in for service, I purchased a new bracelet and the bracelet had solid end links. As mentioned from earlier, the SELs give it a much more solid feel. It feels slightly more modern. The solid end links on the Oyster bracelet radically change the feel of your 16570. They really make the watch feel much more modern and less rattly. At the same time, being male end links, they do add to the overall length of the watch. Best of both worlds = lug holes and solid end links. Prior to this I had used several bracelets. Sub 93150 with 580 end links, a Jubilee off a DJ, 78360 from a GMT, 78790 with 501B end links.
The answer is NO, the 16570 never came from the factory with a solid center link bracelet all througout. During the later years of production (2000-2011) all Explorer II 16570 models came from the factory with the 78790A Oyster bracelet. This is an A-serial number 16570 with solid endlinks and drilled lugs. Note the “SWISS” only on the bottom of the dial. Image: Bob’s Watches. I wanted a black dial, none drilled case/solid endlink 16570 but did not want the engraved rehaut. That narrowed my search down to ~ 2003-2006 year examples.
